Studio Theatre in Washington, DC, is staging "Wish You Were Here" by the Iranian-American playwright Sanaz Toossi, who won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for "English". The production, directed by Sivan Battat, runs in the Mead Theatre until November 1, 2026. The play begins in a living room in Iran in 1978, where a group of young women are getting their friend Salme ready for her wedding. It then jumps forward in steps to 1991, as the revolution and the Iran-Iraq war change their plans. One sees her studies derailed when the universities close, another goes abroad for a medical degree, and the bond between Nazanin and Rana, who is Jewish, is tested. Ellen Nikbakht, Ari Derambakhsh, Ellena Eshraghi, Shadee Vossoughi and Layan Elwazani play the five friends. Omid Akbari designed the set and Shahrzad Mazaheri the costumes. Reviewing the production for DC Theater Arts on September 29, Celia Wren praises the actors and writes that the opening scene reverberates long after it is over. The play dates from 2022 and runs about one hour and 45 minutes without an intermission.

Studio Theatre در واشینگتن نمایش «Wish You Were Here» نوشتهٔ ساناز طوسی را روی صحنه برده است. طوسی نمایش‌نامه‌نویس ایرانی‌آمریکایی است و سال ۲۰۲۳ برای «English» برندهٔ Pulitzer Prize for Drama شد. این اجرا به کارگردانی سیوان بتات [Sivan Battat] تا ۱ نوامبر ۲۰۲۶ در Mead Theatre ادامه دارد. نمایش سال ۱۹۷۸ در اتاق نشیمن خانه‌ای در ایران آغاز می‌شود. چند زن جوان دوستشان سلمه را برای عروسی آماده می‌کنند. داستان سپس گام‌به‌گام تا سال ۱۹۹۱ پیش می‌رود و انقلاب و جنگ ایران و عراق برنامه‌های آنان را به هم می‌ریزد. با بسته شدن دانشگاه‌ها درس یکی نیمه‌کاره می‌ماند. دیگری برای خواندن پزشکی به خارج می‌رود. پیوند نازنین و رعنا که یهودی است نیز به آزمون کشیده می‌شود. الن نیکبخت، آری درم‌بخش [Ari Derambakhsh]، النا اشراقی، شادی وثوقی و لیان الوزانی نقش این پنج دوست را بازی می‌کنند. طراح صحنه امید اکبری و طراح لباس شهرزاد مظاهری است. سلیا رن در نقدی که ۲۹ سپتامبر در DC Theater Arts منتشر شد بازیگران را ستوده است. به نوشتهٔ او، پژواک صحنهٔ آغازین تا مدت‌ها پس از پایانش می‌ماند. این نمایش‌نامه در سال ۲۰۲۲ نوشته شده و اجرای آن حدود یک ساعت و ۴۵ دقیقه بدون میان‌پرده است.
