Festival at UT Austin to Honor Terrence McNally’s New-Play Legacy

American Theatre's editors report that the Terrence McNally Foundation will hold a three-day Terrence McNally Festival in Austin, Texas, from January 29 to 31, 2027. Its partners are Texas Performing Arts, the Harry Ransom Center at the University of Texas at Austin, and Rattlestick Theater. Led by artistic director Liz Frankel and artistic producer Kate Eminger, the festival will offer readings of five new plays. They are Girl Time by Eliza Frakes, The Seahorse by Kate Fodor, a new adaptation of Gulliver's Travels by Zack Fine and Bradley Michalakis, You Can Tell a Tree By Its Fruit by comfort ifeoma katchy, and The Daisies by Tony Meneses. On January 30, David Kornhaber will lead a symposium on McNally's work at the Ransom Center, which holds the playwright's papers. That evening, Austin's Rude Mechs will stage McNally's 1998 play Corpus Christi, which retells the New Testament through Joshua, a gay Christ figure raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the early 1950s. The foundation's executive director, Santino DeAngelo, said it was especially meaningful to hold the festival in Texas, where McNally grew up and first found his love of theatre.

University of Texas at Austin و Rattlestick Theater هستند. این آثار «Girl Time» نوشتهٔ الایزا فریکس [Eliza Frakes]، «The Seahorse» نوشتهٔ کیت فودور [Kate Fodor]، اقتباسی تازه از «Gulliver's Travels» به قلم زک فاین و بردلی میکالاکیس [Bradley Michalakis]، «You Can Tell a Tree By Its Fruit» نوشتهٔ کامفرت ایفئوما کاچی [comfort ifeoma katchy] و «The Daisies» نوشتهٔ تونی منسس [Tony Meneses] هستند. عکس از Studio Sarah Lou from USA، CC BY 2.0، Wikimedia Commons
