A MUBI Notebook correspondent began the 83rd Venice Film Festival wearing a VR headset on Lazzaretto Vecchio, a small island beside the Lido. The island once sheltered pilgrims bound for the Holy Land and from 1423 housed Venice's plague hospital. Today it hosts the festival's immersive section, with booths that offer, among others, a journey through David Bowie's world and a trip to the Galápagos narrated by Margot Robbie. The same dispatch covers NAZA, the documentary by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor.
