The exhibition "This Heat" at the New York Studio School in Greenwich Village brings together three painters. Brenda Goodman and Steve DiBenedetto are longtime figures in the New York art world, while Bendix Harms is a 59-year-old German artist who lives on a remote farm in northern Denmark. Curated by Jacob Brooks, the show fills two galleries that doubled in size after recent renovations. Of the 17 works, three are by Harms and the other 14 are split evenly between Goodman and DiBenedetto. The Hyperallergic reviewer writes that comparing the three is a dead end, but calls the inclusion of a non-New York artist a welcome intervention at a school the reviewer has often found insular. In the reviewer's reading, the humor of Harms, who paints directly on canvas with a palette knife, changes how the other two look. Goodman shows six paintings and one small work on paper made between 2020 and 2026, including "Mounting Thoughts". DiBenedetto's largest painting, "Isotope Plus", is described as the latest form of his long preoccupation with octopi. The review concludes that in this work paint is more than paint. The show runs through October 18.

نمایشگاه «This Heat» در New York Studio School در محلهٔ گرینویچ ویلج منهتن آثار سه نقاش را کنار هم آورده است. برندا گودمن و استیو دی‌بندتو از چهره‌های باسابقهٔ هنر نیویورک‌اند و بندیکس هارمس [Bendix Harms] هنرمند ۵۹ سالهٔ آلمانی است که در مزرعه‌ای دورافتاده در شمال دانمارک زندگی می‌کند. نمایشگاه را جیکوب بروکس گردآوری کرده و در دو نگارخانه برپا شده که پس از بازسازی اخیر دو برابر شده‌اند. از ۱۷ اثر نمایشگاه سه اثر از هارمس است و ۱۴ اثر دیگر به تساوی از گودمن و دی‌بندتو است. منتقد Hyperallergic می‌نویسد مقایسهٔ این سه هنرمند راه به جایی نمی‌برد، اما حضور هنرمندی غیرنیویورکی را مداخله‌ای خوب در فضای بستهٔ این مدرسه می‌داند. به نوشتهٔ او شوخ‌طبعی هارمس، که با کاردک مستقیم روی بوم نقاشی می‌کند، کار دو نقاش دیگر را به شکلی دور از انتظار رنگ‌آمیزی می‌کند. از گودمن شش نقاشی و یک اثر کوچک روی کاغذ از سال‌های ۲۰۲۰ تا ۲۰۲۶ به نمایش درآمده است، از جمله «Mounting Thoughts». بزرگ‌ترین اثر دی‌بندتو «Isotope Plus» است که منتقد آن را تازه‌ترین جلوهٔ دل‌مشغولی دیرینهٔ نقاش به هشت‌پا می‌خواند. او نتیجه می‌گیرد که در این آثار رنگ فقط رنگ نیست. نمایشگاه تا ۱۸ اکتبر ادامه دارد.
