The Quietus reports that Mogwai have collaborated with Iggy Pop on a new track, "Underground." The vocals were arranged by Matt Sweeney. The track appears on "Happy Tears," a retrospective compilation marking 30 years of Mogwai, which Rock Action will release on January 8, 2027. The album will come out digitally and as 2xLP, 4xLP and 2xCD editions. The 4xLP and 2xCD versions carry 13 additional tracks, including six previously unreleased recordings along with remixes, live cuts and rarities. The compilation also includes a special reworking of "New Paths To Helicon 1," orchestrated by Adam Wiltzie of Stars Of The Lid and performed with the Budapest Art Orchestra. A feature-length audio documentary, "Happy Tears: The Story Of Mogwai," will premiere the same day and tells the band's history from the members' own perspective. Iggy Pop said of the collaboration, "I've always liked Mogwai." He added that the opening of the track reminded him of crushing modern loneliness.

به گزارش The Quietus، گروه Mogwai با همکاری ایگی پاپ قطعهٔ تازه‌ای با نام «Underground» ساخته است. تنظیم آواز این قطعه را مت سوئینی انجام داده است. «Underground» در آلبوم گزیدهٔ «Happy Tears» می‌آید که به مناسبت سی سال فعالیت Mogwai تهیه شده و Rock Action آن را ۸ جنوری ۲۰۲۷ منتشر می‌کند. آلبوم به شکل دیجیتال، دو صفحه‌ای، چهار صفحه‌ای و دو لوح فشرده عرضه می‌شود. نسخه‌های چهار صفحه‌ای و دو لوح فشرده ۱۳ قطعهٔ افزوده دارند، از جمله شش قطعهٔ منتشرنشده، بازآمیزی‌ها، اجراهای زنده و قطعه‌های کمیاب. در این مجموعه بازسازی ویژه‌ای از «New Paths To Helicon 1» هم هست که آدام ویلتزی از گروه Stars Of The Lid آن را برای ارکستر تنظیم کرده و Budapest Art Orchestra نواخته است. همان روز مستند صوتی بلندی هم منتشر می‌شود که تاریخ گروه را از زبان اعضایش روایت می‌کند. ایگی پاپ دربارهٔ این همکاری گفته است «همیشه Mogwai را دوست داشته‌ام». او می‌گوید آغاز قطعه تنهایی خردکنندهٔ روزگار امروز را به یادش آورده است.
