🎭 Owrang Editorial · August 2, 2026

Salaud Morisset, a sales company based in Paris and Berlin, has taken worldwide rights to A Bit of Light, the new film by Ali Asgari, ahead of its world premiere at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. The film competes for the Golden Lion in the main competition, the first time Asgari has been selected for that section. A Bit of Light is his sixth feature. It follows Disappearance, which premiered in Venice; Until Tomorrow at the Berlinale; Terrestrial Verses in Un Certain Regard at Cannes; Higher Than Acidic Clouds at IDFA; and Divine Comedy, which played in Venice's Orizzonti section last year. The film is set in present day Iran. A doctor loses faith in the future after being arrested and having his practice shut down, and resolves to end his life. He spends one final day with his mother and his brothers and sisters, meaning to prepare them for his departure, and that day among his family begins to unsettle the decision. The film runs 87 minutes and is a co-production of Iran, Switzerland, Italy, Canada and Türkiye. The cast is Misagh Zareh, Sadaf Asgari, Forouzan Jamshidnejad, Ramtin Daghigh and Mina Rahimzadeh. Asgari has said the film is not about sorrow but about the invisible bonds that make life worth holding on to. Venice runs September 2 to 12.
