This is an academic article or study that examines and classifies master's and doctoral theses in translation submitted to a translation department at the University of Mosul between 1986 and 2019. Using Holmes's map of Translation Studies (1972) as a framework, the study investigates whether research efforts during that period were weighted toward pure theoretical translation studies rather than applied translation studies. It provides statistical data to test this hypothesis and assess the distribution of research across the field's branches as Holmes defined them.
