Yasaman Farmanara shows ‘Under the Armor’ at Studio 37 in Los Angeles

In Kayhan Life, Fred Parvaneh reports on the first solo exhibition of Yasaman Farmanara, an Iranian-born artist based in Los Angeles. The show, "Under the Armor", was held at Studio 37 in Los Angeles and brought together paintings, drawings and bronze sculptures. It opened with a collector preview on October 15 and closed on October 18. According to the article, Farmanara's work shows tangled figures, fragmented bodies and expressive hands. The gallerist Sophia Parisa, who founded Studio 37 as a contemporary art gallery and cultural center, told Kayhan Life she was drawn to the relationship between vulnerability and strength in the work. Parisa was born in New Jersey, raised in Iran and studied industrial engineering before turning to art. Farmanara said she hopes the exhibition encourages more curiosity and kindness toward our own emotional lives. She spent many years in the fashion industry before turning to fine art. Her work has appeared in group shows in Los Angeles, including at Tag Gallery, Art Share Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.
