Two novels by Majid Barzegar seized and banned in Iran

IranWire reports that two recent novels by the Iranian writer and filmmaker Majid Barzegar have been seized and banned in Iran, even though both had received official publication permits. Barzegar announced the news on Instagram. Both books, "Autumns That Will Come" and "How Vast Was the Night", were printed by Cheshmeh Publishing. "Autumns That Will Come" came out on September 19 and reached a third printing in under ten days. On that tenth day, he wrote, an order arrived to recall every copy of the novel before the third printing was distributed, and to stop the second novel from being produced or published at all. Barzegar wrote that they would stay, keep working and keep creating, and that their films and stories would one day be published. Photo by Siamak Namvar, CC BY 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons.
