MUBI's Spanish-language podcast strand Encuentros returns with a new episode that brings together two Latin American filmmakers, the Argentine writer-director Clarisa Navas and the Colombian sound designer and filmmaker Mercedes Gaviria. Navas, from the city of Corrientes, is known for the fiction features Today match at 3 and One in a Thousand and for her 2025 documentary The Prince of Nanawa, which won the Grand Prize at Visions du Réel and traces a relationship she built with its subject over a decade along the Argentina and Paraguay border. Gaviria, based in Buenos Aires, has worked as a sound artist with many leading Latin American directors, and her debut documentary The calm after the storm revisits her own family and cinematic legacy. In conversation they reflect on cinema as an intermittent experience that often blurs into life, on the time a relationship needs to take shape on screen, and on listening as an act of generosity and responsibility
