Screen Daily's Tim Dams reports that "Into the Jaws of the Ogre" ("Dans la gueule de l'ogre") by Mahsa Karampour has won the Best Documentary Award at the Rome Film Fest, which wrapped on October 24, 2026. The film screened in the festival's Special Screenings section. A special mention in the documentary category went to "A Russian Winter" by Patric Chiha. According to the festival's own list of winners, the documentary jury was chaired by the Italian director Roberto Minervini and chose from fourteen titles across several sections. Karampour was born in Iran and has lived in France since 2003, according to the Vancouver International Film Festival, which also screened the film. Its programme note describes a road movie in which Karampour travels to the United States to reconnect with her younger brother Siavash, an indie rock musician in New York, as memories of their life in Tehran return. The French production is in Persian and English and is her first feature film. She studied sociology at EHESS in Paris and trained in documentary filmmaking at the Ecole documentaire de Lussas.
