"Child", the first feature film by Cyrus Neshvad, a director of Iranian origin based in Luxembourg, is Luxembourg's entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2027 Academy Awards, the Luxembourg magazine Paperjam reports. The Luxembourg Film Academy chose the film, which is also the country's entry for Best European Film at Spain's Goya Awards. It opened in British cinemas on October 2 and has been showing in Luxembourg since September 9. The 78-minute film is a psychological drama with elements of horror. Anne and Greg learn that their young son has only a short time to live. To give him one last chance they commit an unforgivable act, and it draws them into a downward spiral. The cast includes Brigitte Urhausen, Anne Klein, Jules Werner and Malik Zidi, and the producer is Cynefilms. "Child" had its world premiere in June at the Raindance Film Festival in London, in the section for debut features. Neshvad's short film "The Red Suitcase" was nominated for the 2023 Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film. The selection committee said the choice reflects the diversity of stories, worlds and approaches in Luxembourg's cinema. The Oscar ceremony is on March 14, 2027.

«Child»، نخستین فیلم بلند سیروس نشواد [Cyrus Neshvad]، کارگردان ایرانی‌تبار ساکن لوکزامبورگ، نمایندهٔ این کشور در بخش بهترین فیلم بین‌المللی اسکار ۲۰۲۷ شده است. به گزارش مجلهٔ Paperjam آکادمی فیلم لوکزامبورگ این فیلم را برگزیده و آن را برای بخش بهترین فیلم اروپایی Goya Awards اسپانیا هم معرفی کرده است. فیلم از ۲ اکتبر در سینماهای بریتانیا روی پرده رفته و از ۹ سپتامبر در لوکزامبورگ نمایش داده می‌شود. این فیلم ۷۸ دقیقه‌ای درامی روان‌شناختی با رگه‌هایی از ژانر وحشت است. آن و گرگ درمی‌یابند پسر خردسالشان فرصت کمی برای زندگی دارد. آنها برای آن‌که آخرین بخت را به او بدهند به کاری نابخشودنی دست می‌زنند و همین کار آنها را به سراشیبی می‌کشاند. بریژیت اورهاوزن، آن کلاین، ژول ورنر و ملک زیدی از بازیگران فیلم‌اند و Cynefilms آن را تهیه کرده است. «Child» نخستین بار در جون در Raindance Film Festival لندن در بخش فیلم‌های اول نمایش داده شد. فیلم کوتاه نشواد، «The Red Suitcase»، در ۲۰۲۳ نامزد اسکار بهترین فیلم کوتاه داستانی بود. کمیتهٔ انتخاب گفته است این گزینش گوناگونی روایت‌ها، جهان‌ها و شیوه‌ها را در سینمای لوکزامبورگ نشان می‌دهد. مراسم اسکار ۱۴ مارچ ۲۰۲۷ برگزار می‌شود.
