English Summary The Quietus reports on the official debut of Luft, the new band formed by former Toy member Tom Dougall after his move from London to Berlin. Dougall says that after Toy disbanded in 2020, he and Ani Mijatović relocated to Berlin, where the group gradually came together with Sam Davies, Rob Henderson, and Aaron Singh. Luft first appeared on a Tough Love birthday compilation last year, but the new single Something On My Mind marks their first proper release. The track was produced by Luke Haines, whose work with The Auteurs and Black Box Recorder had been important to Dougall since his youth. According to Dougall, working with Haines brought the right balance of attitude, atmosphere, and eccentricity to the project. The album was recorded live as a band over five days at a studio in Greenwich, with Haines later adding distinctive touches in the mix, from spoken word fragments to unusual sound details. With its elegant psychedelic mood, Something On My Mind introduces Luft as a new project rooted in British independent music but shaped by the energy of Berlin.
Something On My Mind
