A new Detroit Institute of Arts exhibition shifts attention from Georgia O'Keeffe's famous flowers and desert landscapes to her architecture and city paintings. Around 40 works trace skyscrapers, industrial structures, the Brooklyn Bridge and the geometric forms of her New Mexico homes. The exhibition, opening September 11, argues that the built environment was a sustained and significant subject across O'Keeffe's career.
