About this work

Salamān and Absāl is a narrative poem by Jāmī in the Persian literary tradition. Rather than being a straightforward story, the work uses the outward form of a tale as a vehicle for a deeper meaning that the poet intends to reveal and explain. The poem openly signals to the reader that its true purpose lies beneath the surface of the narrative itself. This edition is based on the critical text established by Shaykh Abd al-Qādir Sarāfrāz.
