About this work
This is a research article presenting a simple and low-cost method for improving the quality of graphitic carbon nitride. The material was synthesized using melamine as a precursor under a CO2 gas atmosphere, introduced here as a novel synthesis environment, with samples also prepared under the more common N2 and air atmospheres for comparison. The synthesized photocatalysts were characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR, Vis-UV DRS, and PL analyses, and their photocatalytic performance was evaluated by testing the degradation of the cationic dye Rhodamine B. XRD patterns confirmed successful synthesis.
