A Historical–Institutional Examination of the Obstacles to the Formation of Islamic Banking in Iran

This is an article examining how Iran's banking system should be designed to align with the principles established in the Islamic Republic's constitution, particularly the requirement that the Islamic system embody its foundational religious beliefs. The piece argues that in building institutions and designing social and economic systems, the Islamic government must consistently attend to Islamic doctrinal foundations, social rulings of Islam, governmental jurisprudence, and economic justice. The banking system is presented as one area that must conform to the goals of Islamic economics and constitutional mandates.
