The Servant of Two Masters (Il servitore di due padroni)
Author: Carlo Goldoni · 1746
About this work
The peak of commedia dell'arte turned into a written play. The always hungry Truffaldino (Arlecchino) serves two masters at once to earn double wages and meals; one is a woman disguised as her own murdered brother, searching for her lover, and the other is that very lover. Messages and letters are swapped and confusion mounts until everyone is united.
