About this work
Plague has struck Thebes, and the oracle says the killer of the former king Laius must be found. King Oedipus leads the hunt and discovers, step by step, that he himself killed his father and married his mother Jocasta. Aristotle treated the play as the model tragedy.
طاعون شهر تبای را فرا گرفته و پیشگو می‌گوید قاتل لائوس، پادشاه پیشین، باید پیدا شود. ادیپ پادشاه جست‌وجو را آغاز می‌کند و گام‌به‌گام درمی‌یابد که خود پدرش را کشته و با مادرش یوکاسته ازدواج کرده است. ارسطو این نمایش را الگوی کامل تراژدی دانست.
