About this work
At the 1972 Shiraz Arts Festival the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, with live music by John Cage and his collaborators, gave an 'Event' among the ruins of Persepolis. Together with Stockhausen's appearance that year, it marked the high point of the festival's Western avant-garde programme. Photographs from the Cunningham Dance Foundation show Douglas Dunn, Carolyn Brown and Cunningham at Persepolis.
گروه رقص مرس کانینگهام با موسیقی زندهٔ جان کیج و همکارانش در جشن هنر شیراز ۱۳۵۱ «رویدادی» در میان ویرانه‌های تخت جمشید اجرا کرد. این اجرا در کنار حضور اشتوکهاوزن در همان سال، اوج برنامهٔ آوانگارد غربی جشن بود. عکس‌های بنیاد کانینگهام، داگلاس دان، کارولین براون و خود کانینگهام را در تخت جمشید نشان می‌دهد.
