About this work

A continuous seven-day performance by Robert Wilson and the Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds, staged 2–9 September 1972 on Haft Tan Mountain in Shiraz for the Shiraz-Persepolis Festival of Arts. Each day had its own theme on a different hill until all seven hills were in use, with Iranian and American performers, animals and cardboard cut-out figures. An overture was presented at the Qavam House (Narenjestan) garden.
