About this work

Neyrangestan is a collection of Iranian folk beliefs and superstitions compiled by Sadeq Hedayat. It gathers popular myths, omens, rituals, and traditional lore from Persian folk culture, including beliefs about the natural world such as the notion that the earth rests on the back of a bull. The work documents the superstitions, charms, and customary practices that circulated among ordinary people. It is considered a significant contribution to the study of Iranian folklore and popular culture, preserving a body of oral and vernacular tradition that might otherwise have been lost.
