About this work
Sitar player Ravi Shankar scored Satyajit Ray's debut feature after seeing only part of the film, recording the music in one long session. Critics hear it as the sonic counterpart of Ray's visual storytelling: unmistakably Indian in sound against the film's European-influenced style, and a break from the song-driven Indian film musical.
راوی شانکار، نوازندهٔ سیتار، موسیقی نخستین فیلم ساتیاجیت رای را تنها پس از دیدن بخشی از فیلم و در یک جلسهٔ ضبط طولانی ساخت. منتقدان این موسیقی را همتای شنیداری روایت تصویری رای می‌دانند؛ موسیقی‌ای آشکارا هندی که با سبک بصری اروپایی‌مآب فیلم در تقابل است و از سنت فیلم‌های پرترانهٔ هندی فاصله می‌گیرد.
