The Rain
About this work
The Rain is a live concert by Ghazal, which brings Kayhan Kalhor's Persian kamancheh together with Shujaat Husain Khan's Hindustani sitar and voice. Three long improvisations, 'Fire', 'Dawn' and 'Eternity', move from restrained sorrow to a bright resolution. Critics regard it as the group's high point.

¶ The live interplay is energetic, with Kalhor pulling Khan in unexpected directions, but the finale feels padded and the earlier Moon Rise over the Silk Road is judged more absorbing. ▶ Listen at the source ↗
