About this work
Bidad is a Homayoun-mode work sung by Mohammad-Reza Shajarian to music by Parviz Meshkatian. The Aref Ensemble accompanies him in the first part, and Gholamhossein Bigjekhani's tar in the second. Critics regard it as Meshkatian's first large, carefully structured work. After its release, a Hafez couplet in it took on a social meaning in mid-1980s Iran.
