A wordless, intertitle-free portrait of a Soviet city from dawn to night that also shows its own shooting, editing and screening. Vertov's rapid montage, superimpositions and speed changes make it a catalogue of cinema's expressive possibilities.
فیلمی بی‌کلام و بی‌میان‌نویس که یک روز از زندگی شهری شوروی را از بیداری تا شب دنبال می‌کند و هم‌زمان فرایند فیلمبرداری، تدوین و نمایش خودِ فیلم را نشان می‌دهد. ورتوف با تدوین سریع، چندنمایی و حرکت آهسته و تند، امکانات زبان سینما را به نمایش می‌گذارد.
