این مقاله به بررسی رابطهی میان بازسازی تاریخ و داستان ادبی میپردازد و دو مفهوم محوری را در کانون تحلیل قرار میدهد: «پسحافظه» که انتقال خاطره از نسلی به نسل دیگر است، و «ادبیات اکتوپیک» که آثاری را دربرمیگیرد که نویسنده آنها را بیرون از زادگاه خود نوشته است. نویسنده استدلال میکند که هر دوی این مفاهیم در شکلگیری روایت تاریخی نقش دارند و این روایت همواره با تفسیر ذهنی همراه است. از آنجا که تفسیر، درکی شخصی از واقعیت است، مرز میان تاریخ و ادبیات در این فرایند سیال میشود.
