این نسخه‌خطی شامل متون مختلف دینی و کلیسایی است که در دوره‌های متفاوت در صومعه پیتربورو در انگلستان نوشته شده‌است. بخش نخست حدود سال‌های ۱۱۲۱ تا ۱۱۳۱ می‌لادی تدوین شده و سپس حوالی سال ۱۱۵۵ می‌لادی ادامه یافته‌است. این نسخه نمایندگی خوبی از تولید کتاب و فعالیت‌های علمی در صومعه‌های انگلیسی دوره قرون وسطی است.
