About this work

This article presents software designed to teach the alphabet and shapes to blind students using a haptic robot called Phantom. An instructor can create different letters and shapes on a virtual slate by pressing defined keyboard keys. After each letter or shape is generated, a blind user can feel the surface of the slate and the letters and shapes through forces produced by the haptic robot, and move along their paths. The method was tested on a number of students at a school for the blind.

در این مقاله به ارائه یک نرم­افزار جهت آموزش الفبا و اشکال به دانش­آموزان نابینا از طریق یک ربات هپتیکی(فنتوم) پرداخته ­شده است. با استفاده از این فناوری مربی می­تواند با فشردن کلیده‌ای تعریف شده­ای از صفحه کلید، حروف و اشکال مختلف را روی یک لوح مجازی ایجاد کند. پس از ایجاد هر حرف یا شکل کاربر نابینا قادر است، از طریق ربات هپتیکی و به کمک نیروی ایجاد شده در آن، سطح لوح و حروف و اشکال را احساس کرده و در مسیر حروف و یا اشکال حرکت کند. این روش بر روی تعدادی از دانش­آموز یک مدرسه نابینایان آزموده ...
