This is a scholarly research article examining how to adapt the piano to accompany Arabic music, specifically addressing the unique challenge of the three-quarter tone interval that is fundamental to Arab musical tradition. The piano, despite being foundational to musical accompaniment across many instruments, has historically been incompatible with this distinctive Arabic microtonal element. The research develops a new accompaniment technique designed to enable the piano to support Arab musical genres that employ the three-quarter tone interval, proposing an innovative modal framework tailored to this purpose. The work addresses a significant gap in how Western keyboard instruments can be integrated with authentic Arabic musical practices.
