این کتاب پژوهشی است درباره‌ی نقش داستان‌های زندگی‌نامه‌ای تخیلی در بازنویسی تاریخ علم از منظر زنان. نویسنده نشان می‌دهد که در سال‌های اخیر جنبشی شکل گرفته که به کشف دوباره‌ی دانشمندان زن و دستاوردهای فراموش‌شده‌ی آن‌ها می‌پردازد و این جنبش با عنوان «هرستوری» شناخته می‌شود. کتاب بررسی می‌کند که چگونه ژانر داستان زندگی‌نامه‌ای، یعنی بازنمایی داستانی زندگی شخصیت‌های تاریخی واقعی، در این بازنویسی تاریخ علم نقشی مهم ایفا می‌کند.
