About this work

This is the oldest known Persian dictionary, compiled by Asadi Tusi in the fifth century of the Hijri calendar, with poetic examples provided as evidence for the words defined. The copy held here was transcribed on 9 Muharram 733 AH, nearly three centuries after the original work was composed. Readers interested in the history of the Persian language, early lexicography, or classical Persian poetry will find this a foundational primary source.

کهن‌ترین فرهنگ لغت فارسی، همراه با شواهد شعری. اسدی طوسی در سده پنجم هجری می‌زیست؛ این یک نسخه رونویسی‌شده است، کتابت ۹ محرم ۷۳۳ هجری قمری، یعنی نزدیک سه سده پس از پدید آمدن اثر.
