Experience in Building a Special Classification System for Physical Education Subjects Using Colon Classification for Iraqi Academic Theses at the Library of the College of Physical Education, University of Baghdad

This is a research article about cataloguing and classification practice in a specialist academic library. It focuses on the thesis collection held by the Physical Education College Library at Baghdad University, and proposes a method for organizing that collection by applying an analytical classification system modelled on the Colon Classification, which builds call numbers by breaking subjects down into their component facets. The article explains how physical education subjects can be identified, subdivided into primary categories, and assigned appropriate symbols to make constructing classification numbers faster and more consistent for cataloguers working with this specialized material.
