This is a scholarly article that examines one of Omar Khayyam's quatrains alongside two Russian translations of it. Khayyam is introduced as among the most widely translated and widely read Iranian poets in Russia. The article offers a linguistic analysis of the selected quatrain based on its formal and semantic structures, then critically evaluates the two Russian translations. The issues examined include meter and rhyme, syntax, word choice, and the meanings of the chosen vocabulary in both the original and the translations.
