About this work

This is a single quatrain, number 129, from the collected rubāʿīs of Mahsati Ganjavi. In it, a speaker identifies as a dervish dwelling in the quarter of ruins, a space associated with wandering mystics and outcasts, and speaks from that marginal, spiritually charged position. The poem belongs to the classical Persian lyric tradition of the rubāʿī form. As part of Mahsati Ganjavi's wider body of work, it reflects her voice as one of the notable women poets of the Persian literary canon.
