این مقاله به بررسی فضای غیرمعمول لسآنجلس از دریچه ادبیات میپردازد و نشان میدهد چگونه ژانر آنتولوژی با ساختار این کلانشهر پیوندی نزدیک دارد. لسآنجلس از همان آغاز موضوع آثار ادبی بوده و در رمانها، زندگینامهها، سفرنامهها و اشعار نویسندگانی گوناگون، از مهاجران گرفته تا بومیان و مسافران گذری، بازتاب یافته است. نویسنده استدلال میکند که ساختار آنتولوژی بهگونهای خاص با ماهیت این شهر همخوانی دارد و این شهر را میتوان از طریق همین گوناگونی صداها و روایتها شناخت.
