An Analytical Look at the Poems in Persian Textbooks of the Elementary School Period

This is an academic article examining the poetry found in six Persian-language elementary school textbooks. It argues that poetry, because of its pleasurable sound and exceptional capacity, is a fitting tool for teaching children important ideas and ideals. The article identifies both content and structural weaknesses in the selected poems, finding that their themes lean heavily on repeated nature imagery and epic motifs without meaningful messages. Further problems noted include the same authors appearing across multiple grade levels, overreliance on a single poet's work, and repetition of subjects, pointing to broader shortcomings in how children's literary material is chosen and organized for Iranian primary education.
