این مقاله به تاریخچهی قومرقصشناسی در بازهی زمانی ۱۹۶۲ تا ۲۰۱۲ میپردازد و بر پایهی خاطرات زندهی اعضای گروه مطالعاتی قومرقصشناسی شورای بینالمللی موسیقی سنتی نوشته شده است. نویسنده با استفاده از مکاتباتی که تازه کشف شده، ریشههای این رشته را به دههی ۱۹۵۰ و نشریات دو تن از پیشگامان آن در چارچوب شورای بینالمللی موسیقی فولکلور بازمیگرداند و تصویر جامعتری از شکلگیری این حوزهی دانشگاهی ارائه میدهد.
