Nature and Hidden Content in Harold Pinter's Slight Ache

This is a scholarly article examining Harold Pinter's play A Slight Ache. It argues that the proximity of human characters to the garden and natural setting in the play is meaningful and that analyzing this relationship deepens understanding of the text. The article's central question concerns how the human-nature relationship enables Pinter's characterization. To address this, the article draws on ecocritical frameworks, particularly the ecofeminist ideas of Annette Kolodny, alongside the concepts of manifest and latent content, to analyze how nature functions in the play's development of character.
