About this work
A ghazal from the Divan-e Shams that opens with 'For a moment, tell tales, tell the tale of Tabriz'. The poet speaks of the bitterness of separation from the beloved's sugar-sweet lips and asks his companions to scatter sugar from that sweetness and spread ambergris by loosening his locks. The ghazal ends with the name of Shams of Tabriz, of whom the sun is but a single mote.
