About this work

According to Wikipedia, Eddie Carbone, an Italian-American Brooklyn longshoreman, lives with his wife Beatrice and her orphaned niece Catherine, for whom he harbours an improper passion. Beatrice's cousins Marco and Rodolpho arrive illegally from Sicily, and Catherine falls for Rodolpho. Out of jealousy Eddie calls the immigration authorities, and Marco shames him publicly. Released on bail, Marco confronts Eddie, who draws a knife and is killed with it; the neighbourhood lawyer Alfieri narrates the story.

به نوشتهٔ ویکی‌پدیا، ادی کاربونه، باربر ایتالیایی‌تبار بروکلین، با همسرش بئاتریس و کاترین، خواهرزادهٔ یتیم او، زندگی می‌کند و علاقه‌ای ناروا به کاترین دارد. مارکو و رودولفو، پسرعمو‌های بئاتریس، قاچاقی از سیسیل می‌رسند و کاترین دل به رودولفو می‌بندد. ادی از سر حسادت به ادارهٔ مهاجرت خبر می‌دهد و مارکو در برابر همه او را رسوا می‌کند. پس از آزادی با وثیقه، مارکو با ادی روبه‌رو می‌شود، ادی چاقو می‌کشد و با چاقوی خودش کشته می‌شود؛ آلفیری، وکیل محله، راوی این ماجراست.
