This article examines the problem of identity in Toni Morrison's novel Beloved, focusing on how Black feminist intellectual thought addresses that problem. The article analyzes strategies proposed by Black feminist thinkers to challenge and dismantle logocentric principles, which the author identifies as central to Enlightenment thought and as a long-standing source of oppression. The discussion is primarily deconstructive in approach, using Morrison's novel as its literary framework for exploring how identity is constructed and resisted within that tradition.
