About this work

I Will Not Stand Alone is a duo album by Kayhan Kalhor and Ali Bahrami Fard, released in January 2012 by World Village, a division of harmonia mundi usa. Kalhor plays the shah kaman, a bass kamancheh built for him by Peter Biffin, and Bahrami Fard the bass santur, in eight linked pieces by Kalhor which, in his own liner notes, grew out of the dark period after Iran's disputed 2009 election. The duo has performed the work in concert in Europe and the United States, among them Portland, Maine (2013), as one continuous, largely improvised piece.
