Nassim

Each night a new performer who has never seen the script comes on stage without rehearsal and reads a text shown page by page on a large screen; according to Holly Williams in WhatsOnStage, the pages are turned by Nassim Soleimanpour's own hands. The show takes the form of a language lesson: the writer teaches the performer and the audience some Persian words and learns English from them, and halfway through he comes on stage himself. Inside this game is the story of his mother, who speaks only Persian and has never seen any of his plays, because none has been performed in Persian; Nassim has promised her a play. It previewed at the Bush Theatre in London in July 2017, won a Fringe First at the Traverse Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe, and has since toured many countries in the local language.
