About this work
Nasim, a poor Afghan refugee who scrapes a living digging wells, cannot pay for the operation his sick wife needs. A street promoter who knows Nasim was once a cycling champion proposes that he ride round the town square without stopping for a week, day and night, to raise the money. The ride becomes a crowded spectacle: vendors set up stalls, gamblers bet on whether he will last and try to rig the outcome with drugs and schemes, and his young son stays by his side. The film won four Crystal Simorghs at the 7th Fajr Film Festival, including best director, and the best narrative film award at the Hawaii International Film Festival in 1991.
نسیم، پناهندهٔ افغانِ تهی‌دستی که با چاه‌کنی روزگار می‌گذراند، پول جراحی همسر بیمارش را ندارد. مردی دوره‌گرد که می‌داند نسیم زمانی قهرمان دوچرخه‌سواری بوده، پیشنهاد می‌کند یک هفته شبانه‌روز بی‌وقفه دور میدان شهر رکاب بزند تا هزینهٔ درمان فراهم شود. رکاب‌زدن او به نمایشی پرتماشاگر بدل می‌شود: فروشندگان دوره‌گرد بساط می‌کنند، دلالان بر سر برد و باختش شرط می‌بندند و می‌کوشند با دارو و دسیسه نتیجه را عوض کنند، و پسرش کنار او می‌ماند. فیلم در هفتمین جشنوارهٔ فیلم فجر چهار سیمرغ بلورین، از جمله بهترین کارگردانی، گرفت و در ۱۹۹۱ جایزهٔ بهترین فیلم داستانی جشنوارهٔ هاوایی را برد.
