About this work
Tara, a young and strong-willed widow in a village, finds a sword among her late grandfather's belongings. The ghost of an ancient warrior appears to her in the forest and asks for the sword back, but once he has it, his love for Tara keeps him from returning to the land of the dead. After its screening at Cannes in 1980 the film was banned in Iran, and it was restored from the original negative in 2022.
تارا، بیوه‌ای جوان و سرسخت در روستایی، در میان یادگاره‌ای پدربزرگش شمشیری پیدا می‌کند. روح جنگجویی باستانی در جنگل کنار روستا بر او ظاهر می‌شود و شمشیر را پس می‌خواهد، اما وقتی شمشیر را پس می‌گیرد، عشق تارا نمی‌گذارد به جهان مردگان بازگردد. فیلم پس از نمایش در جشنوارهٔ کن ۱۹۸۰ در ایران توقیف شد و دهه‌ها بعد، در سال ۲۰۲۲، از نگاتیو اصلی مرمت شد.
