About this work
In a mill near Merv, during the Arab invasion, the body of a fugitive king is found, and a priest, a general and a captain put the miller, his wife and their daughter on trial for killing Yazdgerd III. To save themselves the family act out the night again and again, each time in a different version, until it is unclear whether the dead man is the king or the miller himself; before the verdict is complete, the invading army arrives. According to Persian Wikipedia, Beyzaie directed and designed the first staging at the Chaharsu hall of Tehran's City Theatre from September to November 1979, with Susan Taslimi and Mehdi Hashemi.
در آسیابی نزدیک مرو، در روزه‌ای یورش عرب‌ها، جسد پادشاهی گریخته پیدا شده و موبد و سردار و سرکرده آسیابان و زن و دخترش را به قتل یزدگرد سوم متهم می‌کنند. خانوادهٔ آسیابان برای دفاع از خود ماجرا را بارها بازی می‌کنند و هر بار روایتی تازه می‌سازند، تا جایی که روشن نیست کشته‌شده شاه است یا خود آسیابان؛ در پایان، پیش از آنکه داوری تمام شود، سپاه مهاجم سر می‌رسد. به نقل از ویکی‌پدیای فارسی، نخستین اجرا با کارگردانی و طراحی خود بیضایی از مهر تا آبان ۱۳۵۸ در تالار چهارسوی تئاتر شهر تهران، با بازی سوسن تسلیمی و مهدی هاشمی، روی صحنه رفت.
