About this work
Soma, a sorcerer of the secret Komo society, foresees that his son Nianankoro will cause his death and sets out to kill him. Nianankoro flees with his father's sacred objects, helps a king, takes a wife, and finally faces his father in a blinding cataclysm of light that consumes them both. The film shared the Jury Prize at Cannes in 1987, the first African film to win a prize there.
