Taipei in the 1980s: Lung, a former baseball player stuck in his family's textile business and the past, and Chin, his childhood sweetheart working in property development who dreams of marriage and emigrating to America, slowly drift apart. In a fast-modernising city their relationship unravels amid empty apartments, debts and old loyalties. Fellow New Taiwan Cinema director Hou Hsiao-hsien stars and co-wrote; the film won the FIPRESCI Prize at Locarno 1985 and was restored by The Film Foundation's World Cinema Project.
تایپهٔ دههٔ ۱۹۸۰؛ لونگ، بازیکن سابق بیسبال که در پارچه‌فروشی خانوادگی کار می‌کند و به گذشته چسبیده، و چین، دوست‌دختر قدیمی‌اش که در شرکتی ساختمانی کار می‌کند و رؤیای ازدواج و مهاجرت به آمریکا را دارد، آرام‌آرام از هم دور می‌شوند. در شهری که به‌سرعت مدرن می‌شود، رابطه‌شان در میان آپارتمان‌های خالی و قرض‌ها و دلبستگی‌های کهنه از هم می‌پاشد. هو شیائو-شین، کارگردان هم‌نسل یانگ، نقش اول را بازی کرده و در نوشتن فیلم‌نامه هم شریک بود؛ برندهٔ جایزهٔ فیپرشی لوکارنو ۱۹۸۵، که پروژهٔ سینمای جهان بنیاد فیلم آن را ترمیم کرده است.
