About this work
At a small station in occupied Czechoslovakia near the end of the Second World War, Miloš Hrma, a shy young man from an eccentric family, starts work as an apprentice train dispatcher. His main worry is a failed first love affair, and he seeks advice from the station staff until he is drawn into a partisan plan to blow up a German ammunition train. Menzel's first feature, adapted from Bohumil Hrabal's novella, blends comedy with tragedy and won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 40th Academy Awards (1968).
در ایستگاه کوچکی در چکسلواکیِ اشغال‌شده در واپسین ماه‌های جنگ جهانی دوم، می‌لوش هرما، جوانی خجالتی از خانواده‌ای عجیب، کارآموز دیسپچر قطار می‌شود. دلمشغولی اصلی‌اش ناکامی در نخستین تجربهٔ عاشقانه است و از همکاران ایستگاه کمک می‌جوید، تا آن‌که درگیر نقشهٔ پارتیزان‌ها برای انفجار قطار مهمات آلمانی می‌شود. نخستین فیلم بلند منزل، بر پایهٔ رمان کوتاه بهومیل هرابال، کمدی و تراژدی را درمی‌آمیزد و در چهلمین مراسم اسکار (۱۹۶۸) جایزهٔ بهترین فیلم خارجی‌زبان را گرفت.
